Makgadikgadi Pans

For the ultimate desert experience, Jack's or San Camp in the Makgadikgadi make an ideal extension to a riding safari with either Kujwana or Macatoo. Both camps offer you the chance to learn about the San (bushman), cross the saltpans on quadbikes and between February and April, to possibly see the last greatest migration in Southern Africa.

Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls are well worth a visit. Here the mighty Zambezi plunges 360 feet into the gorges below creating a maelstrom of spray and sound and giving rise to the local name "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (the smoke that thunders). There are a number of exceptional lodges that you can chose from, either on the Zambian or Zimbabwe side, as well as an array of activities on offer, from white-water rafting to more sedate helicopter 'flips' over the falls.

Mozambique's beaches

Mozambique has plenty of fabulous island beaches and some superb luxurious lodges. Most of these are easily accessible from Johannesburg. Benguerra Lodge is probably the ultimate romantic hideaway.
