Brandy House
4 days - Felindre to Felindre
This itinerary is designed for those with their own horses (although horse hire can be arranged), who would like to spend a few days riding in the magnificent Cambrian Mountains. Rides can be either guided or non-guided although due to the lack of way-markers first time visitors would be advised to choose the guided option. The Brandy House has direct access onto miles of open moorland - the countryside here is as wild and remote as you an find anywhere in the UK. Magnificent scenery, panoramic views and long grassy tracks ideal for cantering make this an ideal venue for a few days riding.
Guided rides are accompanied by your hostess from the Brandy House, Medina Brooks or another local guide.
- Day 1 (D)
- Arrive after lunch. A chance to settle your horses, meet your hosts and take a short afternoon ride into the hills. There are miles and miles of bridleways and open moorland just waiting to be explored. Few of the paths are waymarked so we are unlikely to meet other riders or walkers and will find the countryside quiet and unspoiled with abundant birds and other wildlife. Those who prefer or arrive later can school their horses in the outside arena before enjoying afternoon tea.
After settling the horses for the night and a refreshing shower, enjoy a pre-dinner drink and a 3-course candlelit meal.
- Day 2 (B,L,D)
- After a full Welsh breakfast, it is time to tack up and enjoy a full day ride. The ride takes you up and over Beacon Hill, across open moorland and along sheep tracks. This is about as wild and remote as it gets in the UK. On returning to the farm afternoon tea will be served. Time to look after the horses before freshening up for the evening meal.
- Day 3 (B,L,D)
- After breakfast and preparing your horse, ride back onto the moorland for a further full day ride. This time ride over Cilfaesty hill and along the Kerry Ridgeway to meet with the back-up vehicle for a picnic lunch. On return to the farm there is time to untack the horses before taking afternoon tea. After settling the horse down for the night enjoy another 3-course dinner.
- Day 4 (B)
- A final morning ride on the hills and lunch before departing Brandy House.
- This is only a sample itinerary and extra days can be added to suit your exact requirements.
