A country of vast blue skies and endless horizons, Namibia hosts a stunning landscape like no other. A variety of comfortable and luxury lodges are found even in the most remote areas enabling guests to really explore the finest parts of Namibia.
Serra Cafema
Next to the border with Angola lies the most remote camp in southern Africa. Accessible only by air, Serra Cafema offers a wilderness experience like no other. Surrounded by grassland, sand dunes and high mountains, it consists of eight comfortable chalets raised off the ground, each with en-suite facilities. These chalets are constructed within an island of Acacia albida trees on the banks of the Kunene River, this being the only permanent source of water in the area. Other facilities include a small swimming pool, dining room and bar. Activities on offer from Serra Cafema Camp include 4-wheel drive safaris through one of the earth's driest deserts with springbok, ostrich and gemsbok all possible sightings, boat trips along the Kunene River where crocodiles may be seen, quadbiking on the sand dunes, and walking in the nearby mountains and valleys. These activities are guided throughout. You may also have the opportunity to learn about the local Ovahimba way of life, as Ovahimba families often visit Serra Cafema. Etosha National Park
The jewel of Namibia's National Parks is Etosha. One of the largest parks in southern Africa, it is famed for its saltpan which shimmers in the heat, and its teeming herds of game which frequent the open grasslands and woodland. The numerous waterholes are a magnet for elephant, kudu, giraffe, black-faced impala and a host of other species. We would suggest Ongava Lodge or Tented Camp. Damaraland
The wild and rugged landscape of Damaraland is home to some good wildlife including the rare black rhino and desert-adapted elephant. Visitors will also have the opportunity to admire the large wealth of rock art and engravings. Both Damaraland Camp and Palmwag Rhino Camp offer memorable stays. Skeleton Coast
Why not extend your stay in Namibia and visit the Skeleton Coast? Stay at the luxury Skeleton Coast Camp which only accommodates ten people and is situated in the heart of a 300,000 hectare reserve - it is a beautiful, wild and desolate spot! The camp itself is built on an island in a dry riverbed about twenty kilometres from the coast. Each tent is large and roomy and has an en-suite bathroom, with hot and cold running water. There is a wonderful old gnarled leadwood tree which offers shelter from the elements, a beutiful backdrop for al-fresco dining. Sossusvlei
This area is known for its towering dunes that are an apricot colour at sunrise and a deep red at sunset. The Tsauchab River winds its way through the landsacpe towards the coast, but never reaches it. Instead it is blocked by vast dunes causing large pans or 'vleis'. These vleis are alive with animals and birds, and because of the light and its sheer beauty, it is superb for photographers. We recommend Kulala Desert Lodge which is uniquely designed and ideally located to make the most of the area. Excursions in a hot air balloon can also be arranged. Fish River Canyon
To the far south of the country lies the second largest canyon in the world, Fish River Canyon. Due to its remoteness very few visitors make the journey. Breathtaking views are to be admired along the many wonderful walks, or simply find a flat rock and admire the view. Canon Lodge offers numerous comfortable stone bungalows and is situated next to the canyon.
