Inn to Inn Ride

7 days - Moab to Moab

This ride is similar to our Canyons and Plateau ride but offers accommodation in comfortable Inns instead of under canvas. The trip is designed to spend the first three nights in (or near) Torrey, Utah and the next two nights in Boulder as the ride meanders down the Waterpocket Fold towards Lake Powell. From these two elegant inns, daily trail riding destinations will vary according to the season of the year and the trail selected. During warm weather or when the leaves turn in fall, excursions to the lakes and alpine meadows of Fishlake or Dixie National Forest become part of the itinerary.

Each day you will cover new trails, which were established by Native Americans, pioneer herdsmen and outlaws. You'll experience ancient petroglyphs, slickrock mountains, slot-canyons, rock arches, buttes and spires such as Cathedral Valley, as well as fabulous riding.

Time away from the inn may vary day to day, but as a general rule, you should plan to depart by nine each morning and to return about six in the evening. The rides are leisurely and are often divided into two groups, one group going a longer distance and one a shorter distance. Daily travel time to or from the trailhead averages about twenty minutes.

The itinerary shown will give you an idea of what you might experience. In reality, there are dozens of trails to explore and dozens places to visit. Wherever you go, you'll have fun and see spectacular country.
Day 1
Transfer by light aircraft on a scenic flight from Moab to Torrey over the heart of the canyon country - Canyonland National Park, San Rafael Swell, Henry Mountains and Capitol Reef National Park. On arrival in Torrey you will be met and transferred to a motel. During the evening meet with your fellow riders and your trip leader for an orientation and discussion on the trip.
Day 2 (B,L,D)
Your guides will meet you for breakfast at your inn, then you'll depart for a short vehicle ride to the trailhead meeting the remainder of the crew and your horse. After becoming familiar with your mount, you'll hit the trail and enjoy a full day's ride either along the Sand Creel Trail or the Slickrock Trail to view the Mummy Cliffs, Paradise Overlook, Happy Valley and many other geological wonders. During the two days you may ride past several lakes and waterfalls and through plenty of canyons and gorges. Each evening you return to your inn for a fine dinner and good nights sleep.
Day 3 (B,L,D)
Visit the unusual rock formations of Courthouse Butte, Cook Mesa, The Petrified Forest, or some of rock art paintings.
Day 4 (B,L,D)
Today you transfer to Boulder where the next two nights will be spent. Once the transfer is completed, you'll go to today's trailhead and depart on your ride. There will be many photo opportunities along the way and some great canters to enjoy.
Day 5 (B,L,D)
From your Boulder base you will spend another day exploring. You may ride along The Slickrock Trail into Oak Creek Canyon and then to Con's Hole and the Turkey Track.
Day 6 (B,L)
You'll depart for a final day of riding, joining your mount in Indian Gulch. Your guide may take you along either The Indian Trail or perhaps The Elderberry Trail, both very scenic and memorable.
Day 7 (B)
Transfer back to Torrey and on by light aircraft to Moab.
