Introduction to Polo

2 days - Windsor to Windsor

This 2-day midweek break is aimed at the rider who has always fancied 'having a go' at polo and provides a fun introduction to the game, against the spectacular backdrop of 45 hectares of Berkshire countryside. No prior knowledge of polo or riding is necessary. You don't need to be an experienced rider (beginners are welcome) or have an eye for a ball, you just need a sense of humor and a desire to give polo a try.

Our courses take place near Windsor in Berkshire. The 2-day course includes full instruction on how to ride a polo pony, how to swing a mallet and hit the ball and finishes with a 'fun' chukka or two! The ponies used are specifically selected for their quiet manner and the instructors are of the highest standard.

Day by day itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at the polo club. The morning will commence with an Introduction to Polo, which will be followed with a lesson on how to ride a polo pony correctly and how to swing the mallet. From the wooden horse you'll progress onto your polo pony to learn how to swing the mallet on board. After lunch it is time to learn how to hit the ball off the polo pony, first at a walk, then at a canter. Return home or to a local bed & breakfast (details available on request) for an evening of relaxation before your second day of tuition.(L)
Day 2 (L)
Morning session includes further riding and hitting the ball. After lunch enjoy some stick and ball practice, culminating with a few chukkas! (L)
