Price Canyon Ranch
8 days - Tucson to Tucson
Price Canyon Ranch is a traditional working cattle ranch situated in the Chiricahua Mountains in south eastern Arizona, surrounded by 225,000 hectare of national forest and wilderness. Marked by a diversity of wildlife, flowers and trees, and a replenishing spring that sustains an intertwined ecosystem, this vast terrain offers superb riding and expansive views deep into Old Mexico. This is typical rancher country, where generations of pioneering families worked and preserved the land. Guests participate in an authentic Western lifestyle experience, joining the wranglers as they complete the ranch chores. The work changes with the seasons, from branding and weaning cattle to moving the cattle up to their summer pastures, as well as patrolling the ranch boundaries and checking the water lines that lead from Price Canyon Spring to the ranch.
Riding is available every day and generally includes two working rides a day, each about two to three hours long. In order to give the horses and the wranglers a much needed break only one working ride is offered on Sundays. In lieu of the second ride, western games are played in the arena, this includes team penning, barrel racing and pole bending.- Day 1 (D)
- On arrival in Tucson you will be met and transferred to Price Canyon Ranch for seven nights.
- Day 2 to Day 7 (B,L,D)
- Price Canyon is a horseback oriented cattle ranch. You may check the cattle, inspect water sources and patrol the boundaries. Depending on the work schedule, you will ride one or twice daily, weather permitting. In addition to the ranch work, Price Canyon also offers arena sports, such as barrel racing, pole bending and roping. You may choose not to get involved with the ranch work but just to relax and enjoy the horse you are on and the beautiful scenery.
