Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls is well worth a visit. Here the mighty Zambezi plunges over a 100 metres into the gorges below creating a maelstrom of spray and sound and giving rise to the local name "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (the smoke that thunders). There are a number of exceptional lodges that you can chose from, either on the Zambian or Zimbabwe side, as well as an array of activities on offer, from white-water rafting to more sedate helicopter 'flips' over the falls.
Tongabezi
Set on the banks of the Zambezi River, 18 kilometres upstream of the Victoria Falls, Tongabezi is a luxurious upmarket lodge. It is perfect for a few days relaxation after a riding safari. All the activities of the Falls are on the doorstep as well as boat trips and canoe safaris on the river and some great bird watching.
Islands of Siankaba Lodge
Islands of Siankaba Lodge is a forested retreat on two untouched islands amid the Zambezi River. Six secluded chalets are linked by a footbridge to the restaurant. Stylish and elegant Siankaba is excellent place to relax.
Canoeing Safari
Follow the mighty Zambezi downstream through the magnificent Mana Pools National Park. Drift past herds of elephant and paddle through crystal clear channels abundant with birdlife. Escorted by a professional guide the safari is fully backed-up and you will stay in luxurious mobile camps set up on the river banks.
