EMW-UK and EMW-Sanctuaries began in a modest way 15 years ago. They have, over the years, expanded and now have 2 sanctuaries of their own as well as associate sanctuaries across the UK. EMW income is mostly from kind private donations supplemented from their own own pockets. EMW-UK liase with HORSEWATCH UK and also with the Stolen Horse Register.
EMW-Wales (Talgarth) is the remedial and rehab centre and is run with the aim of re-homing as many as possible of the intake. There are currently 14 equines in residence but this changes throughout the year. EMW-Wales (Talgarth) also takes in some of the low value foals from Welsh markets.
EMW-Herefordshire is in place for the old and ill but also emergency overflow from the other sanctuaries. It is set in beautiful countryside and is a restful, healing place. Currently they have 16 inmates with over 30 out on long term loan.
EMW-UK is dedicated to monitoring equines in markets and auctions. EMW-UK actively campaigns against indiscriminate breeding of valueless foals whose average life span is a scant miserable 6 months. EMW-UK is a UK registered charity no.1114700 EMW-UK will investigate any incidents of cruelty, neglect and abuse inflicted on any equine.
