What to Pack

Dress is very casual, even for the visits out, jeans and T-shirts or a summery dress, are fine. There is a laundry facility you can use to, so you don't even have to pack too many riding clothes. In spring, autumn and especially in the summer months, it can get very hot, so to avoid feeling sweaty and sticky all the time, try to stick to natural fabrics, especially cotton. There are many fantastic new products on the market, including full cotton seamless underwear, which is a blessing for the trail rides. Don't forget about fine cotton socks, too.

We would suggest the following:

  • Short riding boots or ride/walk boots such as Ariat Terrain.
  • Jodphurs or riding trousers.
  • Riding gloves if personal preference.
  • Half chaps.
  • Long sleeved shirts or T shirts.
  • Underwear - cycling shorts are ideal for long days in the saddle.
  • Casual clothing for town visits and evenings.
  • Comfortable shoes for evening.
  • Fleece.
  • Waterproof/windroof jacket.
  • Sun hat that stays on.
  • Sun block & lip balm.
  • Mosquito repellent.
  • Head torch.
  • Swimming costume.
  • Personal toiletries - a nail brush is really useful.
  • Tissues.
  • Small personal first aid kit.
  • Camera, fim and batteries.
  • Plug Adaptor
  • Water bottles.
  • Dry sack.
  • Reading material.
We strongly recommend that you always ride in a hard hat and that it conforms to BHS requirements (PAS015, BSEN1384). Riding without a hat could affect a claim on insurance.
