Kyrgyzstan has long, harsh winters but in April the snows melt and in May/June the spring flowers are at their height. You ride at an average of 6,500ft. The days are warm and sunny but it can be cold at night. There is also the possibility of thunderstorms and rain, but they are short-lived.

Although Kyrgyzstan is a Muslim country the people are very relaxed in their attitudes towards women's dress, and it is perfectly acceptable to ride in t-shirts or vest tops.

• Swimming Costume.

• Jodhpurs or riding trousers.

• Short riding boots or ride/walk boots such as Ariat Terrain.

• Half chaps.

• Long sleeved shirt and/or T shirts,

• Fleece.

• Gloves.

• Underwear - cycling shorts are ideal for long days in the saddle.

• Warm jacket.

• Waterproof/windproof jacket.

• Sun hat.

• Casual clothes for non-riding days and evenings.

• Trainers or comfortable shoes for evening.

• Head torch

• Personal toiletries.

• Sun block.

• Mosquito repellent.

• Lip balm.

• Sunglases.

• Camera, film, batteries and binoculars.

• Soft holdall bag to carry your clothes.

• Towel.

• Sleeping bag.

• Small saddle bag or bum bag. (Please note that a bum bag can cause severe injury in the event of a fall).

• Seatsaver. (Heather Moffat seatsaver or a good sheepskin seatsaver can make all the diiference, when spending hours in the saddle).

Riding hats are not mandatory. However, we strongly recommend that you always ride in a hat and that it conforms to BHS requirements (PAS015, BSEN1384). Riding without a hat could affect a claim on insurance.
