What to Pack

Be prepared for all sorts of weather. Layers are ideal and make sure you pack waterprooofs.
  • Jodhpurs or long trousers.
  • Short riding boots or ride/walk boots such as Ariat Terrain.
  • Half chaps
  • Long sleeved shirt and/or T shirts,
  • Warm clothing/Fleece.
  • Underwear. Cycling shorts are good for long days in the saddle.
  • Waterproof/windproof jacket and trousers.
  • Casual clothes for evening.
  • Trainers or comfortable shoes for evening.
  • Riding hat
  • Head torch
  • Personal toiletries.
  • Horse & tack.
  • Fluorescent tabard.
  • Saddlebags - if your horse is not used to carrying saddlebags we would recommend you spend some time getting your horse accustomed to carrying them before the ride.
  • Small unbreakable thermos.
  • Small first aid kit for both horsae and human to go in the saddlebag.
  • Grooming kit.
  • Hay & haynet
  • Horse feed
  • Camera, film, batteries and binoculars.
  • Mobile phone (and charger) in case of emergency.
  • Map case - to keep your map dry.
  • Compass - if travelling without a guide.

Riding hats are mandatory. Please ensure that it conforms to BHS requirements (PAS015, BSEN1384).
